Evergreen School District Policy for Birthday and Classroom Celebrations

We have received updated ESD food and nutritional guidelines and have added these guidelines to school as well.  It is extremely important that all parents and teachers follow them to ensure the health of our children.  Children with allergies and/or specific diets are placed at risk if we fail to do so.

We are no longer allowing parents or other family members to bring birthday treats that they have purchased or made themselves that do not meet the state nutritional guidelines such as cupcakes, cookies, etc.

If it is important for you to send something on that special day, please bring “birthday surprises” like stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.

Also, balloon bouquets can be a distraction and/or disruptive to instruction and therefore parents are reminded of the school policy that balloon bouquets will not be delivered to classrooms during the school day. We want to thank you for your support of the school and district policies. Working together we can maintain our focus on providing a safe and productive environment at John J. Montgomery School.

Other Celebrations:

Special parties at school will need to go through our Child Nutritional Services (CNS) department if food is going to be present.  Our teachers will notify you if such events will be taking place.  Information on CNS and their nutritional guidelines can be found on the Evergreen School District website at http://www.eesd.org/page/cfm?p=2476
